TESLA telephone handset receiver (earpiece) capsule, type "4FE 560 01"
Object/Artifact
A small round metal-housed telephone handset capsule. The front is a shallow domed metal housing with a peripheral ring of oval punched sound apertures around a raised central boss embossed "TESLA" with the company logo, encircled by embossed lettering reading "4FE 560 01," "20," and "AU 1." The back is a domed metal cover with three spot-weld dimples and a central recessed terminal (concentric rings around a central contact post) with rust/corrosion at the center, plus light green discoloration; a handwritten purple-ink notation "K4 / V9" appears at the edge. The single central terminal and perforated sound face are consistent with a telephone receiver (earpiece) insert.

TESLA, Czechoslovak state electronics enterprise. The corrected marking "4FE 560 01" matches the TESLA telephone-insert family (a "4FE 560 01" telephone microphone is documented commercially); the perforated face with a single central terminal indicates the receiver (earpiece) insert. The "4-" prefix is the standardized Czechoslovak/COMECON component code.
