Pair of Women's Brown Leather Slingback Peep-Toe High-Heeled Sandals (Joya)

Clothing/Dress/Costume

A pair of women's brown leather dress shoes: open peep-toe with a crossed/overlapped vamp, a slingback heel strap closed by a small metal buckle, and a curved, set-back high heel. The uppers are smooth tan-brown leather; the sock is leather-lined and the sole is leather. The right insole bears an inked "2400," and the sock lining carries the cursive maker's stamp "Joya." Both shoes (left and right) are present. Image 3 shows an associated small folded buff-card packet/sleeve inscribed in pencil "M+9" and a cursive "24"; the "24" corresponds to the shoes' "2400," probably size or price.

2025.1.338

Used and stored in their box by Gertrudis Caraballo Gálvez.

The peep-toe slingback with a crossed vamp and curved set-back heel is characteristic of late-1940s–1950s styling.
