"Yumurí" brown woven-textile lace-up casual shoes with white saddle overlays
Clothing/Dress/Costume
Pair of men's/unisex low-top casual lace-up shoes of plimsoll/sneaker construction. Uppers are a coarse brown woven textile (jute/linen-type hopsack) with white leather or vinyl saddle-style overlays around the lacing, finished with scalloped/pinked edges. The topline is bound in brown leather/vinyl forming a padded collar; the tongue/throat is a brown ribbed knit gusset. Closure is brown round laces through metal eyelets. A blue-and-gold woven brand label reading YUMURÍ sits at the left throat. Soles are pale rubber/crepe with a thin foxing band (vulcanized/cemented, espadrille-like edge). Insoles are textile, heavily soiled and degraded.

Belonged to Leopoldo Arús Gálvez, who wore them to exercise.
Everyday casual footwear retailed under the Cuban brand Yumurí. Yumurí was a Havana clothing-and-footwear brand/store of the socialist period; period sources recall branded apparel such as the "camisa Yumurí," placing the name firmly in 1970s–1980s Cuban consumer culture. The shoe combines a utilitarian textile-and-rubber (plimsoll) build with a decorative white saddle overlay. Whether Yumurí manufactured the shoe or applied its label as a retail brand is not established.
