Pair of barrette clip-bodies (arched slotted bars, hinge pin/spring missing)
Object/Artifact
Two handmade hair-barrette clip-bodies, seen here in profile as gently arched (bowed) bars, each an openwork rectangular frame divided lengthwise by parallel bars into two elongated slots. At each end the bar turns down into a small lug or foot: these are the mounting points for the clip's hinge pin and spring, which would have run between them and provided the gripping tension. The arched form is the sprung shape of the clip body. The metal hinge pin/spring are now missing from both, so neither functions as a barrette. One is finished in pale/sky blue, the other in cream/off-white. Both are worn, consistent with use and with handmade manufacture.
