Commemorative key fob with medallion of Camilo Cienfuegos

Object/Artifact

A metal keychain comprising a flat, openable split-ring at the top, a twisted rope-link chain, and a round silver-tone medallion suspended from a soldered loop. Within a raised laurel-wreath border (broken by two small bars at the sides), the medallion shows the profile bust of Camilo Cienfuegos, facing right, with his characteristic full beard and broad-brimmed hat, its brim turned up at the side.

Gift

Maker: Not identified; no visible maker's mark or hallmark on the obverse. A Cuban commemorative/souvenir item. Date: Undated. As a Camilo Cienfuegos commemorative it postdates his death (October 1959); the keychain hardware (twisted curb chain, sprung flat ring) is a common mid-20th-century type, but nothing on the object fixes a year. Cannot be placed precisely within or after 1959–1990. Tentative. Place of Origin: Cuba (subject is a Cuban revolutionary figure; a Cuban-made souvenir is most likely). Manufacture not marked on the obverse; reverse not examined.

Metal

Materials: White/silver-tone metal (silver-plated brass, nickel silver, or pewter — not determinable); twisted-link metal chain; metal ring clasp. Technique: Die-struck or cast medallion in relief with a laurel-wreath border; twisted rope-link chain; stamped openable ring.
